Board of Governors' Vreeland Goes Back to Basics in CAP
Thomas Vreeland has had a passion for flying and rockets since he was young. When he was 14, he found out about Civil Air Patrol and decided to join. Vreeland joined CAP in 1960 as a cadet, earning various awards and recognition — such as the Gen. Spaatz Award (he was the 27th cadet to receive a Spaatz), Frank Borman Falcon Award, Cadet of the Year Award and others.

The year 1919 brought several historic events in United States history. Prohibition was ratified by three-fourths of the United States, the League of Nations was founded, and it was the year of the 45th Kentucky Derby.

Women's club lacrosse team faces financial struggles
When the women’s club lacrosse team at The University of Alabama has an away game, the athletes have trouble finding volunteers to drive during the trip. The price of gas isn’t cheap, especially when the team must travel six hours to South Carolina for a weekend tournament. Because it is a club team, it doesn’t have the same transportation provided to it as the varsity teams.

Threescore and 10 — Ill. Wing's Weiland Attending 70th Encampment
James Weiland was in high school, he belonged to the amateur radio club. A fellow member who was also a member of Civil Air Patrol suggested he join. Soon after, in April 1956, Weiland attended his first encampment. “It teaches teamwork,” said Weiland, who’s attending the Illinois Wing Summer Encampment — his 70th CAP encampment — this week at the Marseilles Training Center in LaSalle County.

I’ve always been a nice person – and I mean that in the least narcissistic way possible. My entire life, people have always known me to be shy, quiet and nice. I grew up in the small town of Enterprise, Alabama, where everyone knew each other, and most of the people who were in your kindergarten class were also in your high school class.

New Zealand Adventures with Alpine Living
The students left Tuscaloosa on March 2 and spent a couple weeks, including the entirety of their spring break working on the publication. Two large vans carrying eight people each travel along New Zealand’s countryside. The passengers blast music from their playlist during their destination from Christ Church to Queenstown.

Even with the frustration in the increasing cost of education each year, veterans and military dependents have had difficulty communicating with Veterans Affairs. Before coming to the University of Alabama, Netty Short didn’t think she would actually be able to go to college. She said, at the time, she was a server and was unable to pay for a college tuition.

Senior Send-Off: Mackenzie Ross
Ross wasn’t planning to attend the University of Alabama. She has family ties to the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi, so she assumed she would attend one of the three. Each time Mackenzie Ross put on her crimson pants suit, she had the opportunity to reach several people.
